Valencia striker Rafa Mir has been arrested by the Spanish Guardia Civil police for an alleged crime of sexual assault, as confirmed by a Guardia Civil spokesperson. The incident involved one woman, with the player's name not disclosed at this time. Valencia Football Club released a statement acknowledging the arrest and expressing their commitment to cooperating with the justice system. Mir's representatives have not yet provided a comment on the matter.
According to reports from Cadena Ser radio station, another individual allegedly connected to the assault has also been detained. Sources close to the investigation revealed that a 25-year-old woman filed a complaint against Mir following an incident at the footballer's residence. The woman, accompanied by her 21-year-old friend, reported being sexually assaulted by Mir and another man at the location.
After the alleged assault, the women sought medical attention at a hospital. Currently, Mir is the only individual arrested by the police, with efforts underway to locate the second man involved in the incident. Mir, aged 27, recently joined Valencia on loan from Sevilla and has participated in all four of the team's LaLiga matches this season.
The footballer, who previously represented Spain at the under-21 level, began his senior career at Valencia before playing for various clubs including Wolves, Las Palmas, Nottingham Forest, Huesca, and Sevilla before returning to Valencia.
