The secrets behind hit West End musicals from Six to Miss Saigon will be revealed in a new V&A show.
Costumes and props from hugely popular productions will go on show at the blockbuster exhibition.
The first details were announced today as the museum also revealed it was preparing a show examining the tradition of the Diva, from classical opera stars to giants of popular music such as Whitney Houston, in June next year.
Re:Imagining Musicals, which will run from October 15 to November 27, 2023, will include new acquisitions as well as previously unseen items from the museum’s vast collection.
Shows under the spotlight range from classics such as My Fair Lady to contemporary hit Everybody’s Talking about Jamie.
The V&A’s director, Tristram Hunt, told the Standard: “We are delighted to announce such a broad programme of activity across the V&A’s growing family of sites.”
The museum is also teaming up with institutions in Florence and Berlin for a show about the work of Renaissance master Donatello.
