'Utter bull***t' - Gary Lineker slams UEFA after Champions League final delayed for 'security reasons'

Gary Lineker has labelled UEFA's organising of the Champions League final 'shambolic and dangerous'.

Liverpool's clash with Real Madrid in the showpiece event had to be delayed after chaotic scenes outside the Stade de France meant a significant amount of fans had not been able to enter the stadium just minutes before kick-off.

An initial delay of 15 minutes was then confirmed to have been extended to 30 minutes, with 'security reasons' cited as the cause of the delay. France's national stadium stepped in to host the final after St Petersburg was stripped of the event in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The game eventually kicked off 30 minutes later than originally scheduled, but that didn't stop Lineker from taking to Twitter to slam European football's governing body. His first tweet read: "Finding it impossible to get in the ground. This appears to be very dangerous. Absolute carnage."

He would later tweet: "I'm not sure it's possible to have a more poorly organised event if you tried. Absolutely shambolic and dangerous @UEFAcom." After the second delay had been announced, he wrote: "They've just announced another 15 minute delay "because of the fans". Utter bull***t."
