Noida/New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday detained hundreds of farmers who were protesting at the Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida.
Before camping at the Sthal, the agitators staged protest on Monday at the Noida Expressway.
Samyukt Kisan Morcha
Led by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), farmers's protest enetered the second day on Tuesday. The agitators, who seeking adequate compensation for land acquired by the government, on Monday agreed to clear the road and started 'dharna' at the Dalit Prerna Sthal near Mahamaya flyover.

Police detain farmers
On Tuesday morning, the police took several farmers into custody. Besides, there are also some reports that the police baton-charged some farmers.
According to Dynamite News correspondent, Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh reached the Dalit Prerna Sthal with her entire team on Tuesday morning and arrested about 700 farmers who were protesting at the spot.

Heavy police deployment
Earlier on Monday, a heavy deployment of police and security forces was seen on the border Delhi-Noida border to stop the farmers from entering the national capital. The farmers' organisations wanted to march towards Delhi with their five demands. Due to the farmers' march to Delhi, there was a huge jam on the Noida-Delhi border throughout the day and the commuters had to face a lot of problems.
On Monday evening, the administration was able to convince the farmers to move away from the road and hold their protest at Dalit Prerna Sthal. But on Tuesday morning police has taken many farmers into custody.
