A Utah mother, Jennifer Gledhill, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in connection with the disappearance and presumed death of her husband, Matthew Johnson, a Utah National Guardsman. Gledhill faces charges including first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, abuse of a human body, and tampering with a witness.
Court documents reveal that Gledhill allegedly orchestrated a plan to have her children stay with her parents on the evening Johnson went missing. Johnson was reported missing after failing to show up for work, prompting concerns from a fellow National Guard member.
An informant came forward with information suggesting Gledhill had an extramarital affair and confessed to shooting her husband in the head while he slept. Gledhill allegedly disposed of Johnson's body in a shallow grave after loading it into her minivan.
Despite extensive investigations, Johnson's body has not been found. Detectives discovered suspicious activities at Gledhill's residence, including fresh cleaning marks in the master bedroom and a strong smell of chlorine in the basement.
