A woman accused of a stabbing in Nevada last year has been banned from the University of Texas at Dallas campus, officials said Wednesday.
Nika Nikoubin, 22, was arrested in March and accused of stabbing a man at a casino hotel near Las Vegas, The Associated Press reported. She told investigators she stabbed the man, whom she met online, in response to the U.S. drone strike that killed Qassem Soleimani in 2020. The man survived the stabbing.
Nikoubin has been in Texas under house arrest since at least June 2022, according to the AP. She pled not guilty to attempted murder and battery in connection with the incident.
During a court hearing this week, a detective with the University of Texas, Dallas Police Department said law enforcement agencies in Texas were not notified that Nikoubin had moved to the area.
University officials told The Dallas Morning News that Nikoubin was admitted for the spring semester, and they “removed her from campus” after learning she faces charges in Nevada.
“The UT Dallas Police will monitor the student’s compliance with the removal order,” officials said.
