USWNT Lost Its Third Straight Game for First Time Since 1993

The U.S. women’s national team lost its third straight international friendly match for the first time since 1993 after the team fell 2–1 to Germany on Thursday night.

The United States previously lost 2–1 to England on Oct. 7, then lost 2–0 to Spain on Oct. 11. This also marks the first time since 2001 in which the USWNT has conceded multiple goals in three matches in a row.

Thursday night’s game took place in Fort Lauderdale, meaning the team broke its 71-game home winning streak as well. Their record previously marked the second longest winning streak in team history.

Needless to say, the USWNT’s loss is tough for the team as they compete for the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

Megan Rapinoe scored the USWNT’s one goal in the 85th minute, but just a few minutes later, Germany took the lead back with a late goal in the 89th minute.

The USWNT will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday as they face Germany already for a rematch.
