The USA progressed to the last 16 of the World Cup on Tuesday after beating Iran 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, but the win could come at a cost.
Gregg Berhalter’s men joined fellow Group B side England in the next round of the tournament and will now face the Netherlands on Saturday as they look to continue their remarkable journey in Qatar.
However, Berhalter is set for a nervous wait to see if not one, not two, but three USMNT stars will be available for the match. Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Josh Sargent were all substituted off with injuries against Iran, making them doubts for the weekend.

With all of that in mind, football.london takes a look at their current status and chances of being involved against the Dutch.
Christian Pulisic
Pulisic went to ground inside the goal mouth after picking up a knock in the process of scoring. The 24-year-old stayed down as he received treatment but was unable to continue in the second half before eventually being taken to hospital for further tests.
The USMNT has since confirmed that Pulisic has been diagnosed with a pelvic contusion and that his status is ‘day-to-day’. A pelvic contusion is basically bruising in the pelvic region, it tends to heal quickly with the right treatment and care.
Pulisic appeared relaxed over the injury, saying “I’ll be ready Saturday,” in a photo posted at full-time.
Weston McKennie
According to CBS reporter Roger Gonzalez, McKennie is dealing with a quad injury which is why he was brought off early in the second half against Iran.
The Juventus midfielder has not been fully fit since recovering from an initial groin problem, although it was added that he should be okay to face the Netherlands on Saturday, providing no further issues arise.
Josh Sargent
The Norwich City man has so far been unable to replicate his fine Championship goalscoring form for his country but that hasn't stopped him from playing an important role under Berhalter, who will be hoping that Sargent’s injury is not as nasty as it looked.
According to The Athletic, Sargent is set to undergo a scan on his ankle today after standing on the ball and appearing to hyperextend the knee when falling, but the striker went on to confirm that it was actually the forward flex of his ankle that saw his game end in the 77th minute.
“I’m really not sure (how bad it is),” Sargent told The Athletic. “I think we’ll have to see how it kind of progresses overnight, but we obviously have a very good medical team. So yeah, we’re gonna do everything we can. Hopefully this one is not too bad.”
