The head coach of the US national team has suggested that Christian Pulisic's future may lay away from Chelsea, amid difficulties breaking into Graham Potter's first team plans at Stamford Bridge.
The winger has struggled to earn a consistent run of game time at the Blues and the recent acquisition of Raheem Sterling in the summer has pushed the USMNT winger further down the pecking order in West London. The recent injury to Reece James has seen Pulisic deployed as a wing-back within Potter's system, a role which he struggled with during Chelsea's 4-1 defeat to Brighton last weekend.
He does, however, retain a crucial role as a left-winger within Gregg Berhalter's international setup and the coach has offered his view on the former Borussia Dortmund man's future. The former Columbus Crew boss has said that he does not agree with the role which Pulisic has been given recently. Berhalter' told The Times: "I’ve seen his transformation as a person and as a player and it’s been really fun to watch.

"It’s difficult when you’re at a club like Chelsea and in any given summer they can bring in hundreds of millions of dollars worth of players and he keeps fighting to get his place." He added. "I’ve got a lot of respect for Christian and I think he’s done a fantastic job."
"He’s not a wingback but, listen, every manager likes to try things and sometimes go, "OK this is how it can bring out the best in the player" and sometimes they’re absolutely right — you take a player like that and he’s a transformation at that position.
"Graham Potter is well within his rights to be doing stuff like this now, why not? Give it a try. Since he [Potter] has been there, they’ve been doing a good job. What I see is every manager eventually trusts that he’s going to give 100 per cent effort in training and he’s going to be there for the team when they need him."
Pulisic has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent times, with a loan move to Manchester United discussed in the the summer as well as a move to Newcastle United more recently.
