USG boss Karl Geraerts makes '100 per cent' Rangers call ahead of Champions League decider

Dante Vanzeir of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise scores his team's second goal during the UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round first Leg match between Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Glasgow Rangers

KAREL GERAERTS insists Rangers still have a '100 per cent' chance to save their Champions League campaign as Union Saint-Gilloise attempt to silence Ibrox next week.

The Belgians will take a two goal lead into the second leg of the qualifying round clash after Teddy Teuma and Dante Vanzeir netted at Den Dreef on Tuesday night.

Rangers now have it all to do to turn the tie around second time out if they are to progress to a play-off showdown against Monaco or PSV and keep their group stage dreams on course.

And Geraerts is taking nothing for granted ahead of the trip to Glasgow despite seeing his side move into a commanding position with a deserved victory on home soil.

Geraerts said: "Last season they were great and they didn’t make so many transfers out so they still have the same team, which is a good team if you make the Europa League final and do well.

"Very, very happy. I asked my players to try and win the game. If it is a friendly game or an official game, once we go on the field we respect the opponent but we play to win and they did perfectly.

"They can be happy, they can be proud. They need to enjoy this victory but like I said before the game, nothing will be decided.

"It will all be next week. The only thing we could do was put ourselves in a good position to go over there and I think we did.

"But this is only half of the job and next week will be the other half and I can imagine it will be a big task for us to go there and play against a magnificent crowd.

"It is amazing. But first we have a game on Saturday in the league in Belgium and I want my players to perform there.

"Still zero per cent. They have all 100 per cent for Rangers because it is a big team, they play at home. It is only 2-0.

"It is a good score. I have confidence in my team but I will not start to speak about percentage."
