University of Southern California students who were arrested for criminal trespassing on April 24 during an anti-Israel protest will be referred to the school’s disciplinary process, as per an email sent by the university on Thursday night. The email informed that out of the 93 arrests made at USC last week, 51 were students, while 36 were not affiliated with the university.
The arrests occurred as the USC Department of Public Safety cleared an encampment in Alumni Park that was in violation of university policy. The email sent to the students stated, “You will have an opportunity to participate in the process, and we will take every effort to resolve the case expeditiously and with care.”
Furthermore, the email warned that any future violations of university policies, such as camping, amplified sound, defying DPS directives, vandalism, harassment, bullying, and theft, could result in additional disciplinary actions, including expulsion or a ban from campus.
Students who believe they received the email in error or were not actually arrested are encouraged to respond promptly to dispute the claims. The university is committed to addressing the situation fairly and efficiently.
