USA TODAY Sports Super 25 football: Each national champion since 1982

The USA TODAY Sports Super 25 franchise first appeared in 1982, with the high school football ranking becoming a staple across the country, and presses on into the fifth decade of highlighting the gridiron’s best of the best.

Last season proved to be one of the best Super 25 battles of all time, with St. John Bosco (Calif.) holding off Nevada power Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Golden State rival Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) for the school’s second Super 25 championship nod.

This season continued the competitive trend, with multiple teams appearing in the top 5 as the 2023 calendar moved from September to the playoff push in December.

Ahead of the final USA TODAY HSS rankings being released on Dec. 19, we’re looking back at the winners in the Super 25 Vault — and revealing this year’s 2023 national champion.

We begin in Cincinnati, Ohio…
