USA legend makes 'big club' claim as interest grows in Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams

USA legend Eric Wynalda has tipped Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams to join a 'big club', suggesting that Italy would be a prime destination for the USA captain.

Adams played a starring role for USA as they reached the Round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup, where they suffered a 3-1 defeat against the Netherlands. The 23-year-old not only showcased his footballing exploits in Qatar, but also his invaluable leadership qualities as the youngest captain at the tournament.

His performances at the World Cup have resulted in growing interest from clubs elsewhere, including reportedly Inter Milan and Fiorentina.

Although Adams is just six months into a five-year deal at Elland Road, Wynalda, who played 106 times for USA, believes a move to Serie A would be a 'great spot' for him.

“I know I said he’s not ready for a big move but I’ve changed my mind. I’ve changed my attitude towards that," Wynalda told Vegas Insider. “Sometimes a World Cup really brings out the character and shows you what the man is about. He’s been a leader and if you’ve seen his press conferences they’ve been phenomenal. Nothing fazed him.

“If a move is on the horizon for him it should be a bigger club. Italy would be a great spot for him. Mainly for his defensive abilities. If you look at his skillset it’s reading the game, making tackles, he has an engine. We’ve known this since his youth days with the US national team. He owns every single physical record that exists when it comes to any kind of endurance. He’s the one that is constantly at the top of the charts. He’s an engine. He’s a machine. He’s a very good player.”
