Washington DC: A wildfire in the Sam Houston National Forest, Texas is spreading and so far has burned over 2,360 acres, as updated by fire officials on Thursday afternoon.
As of now about 20 percent has been contained since the fire broke out on Wednesday, said Texas A&M Forest Service officials.

While no fatalities have been reported so far, at least one structure is reported burned by the fire.
According to media reports, evacuation orders in two counties neighboring Houston, Montgomery and San Jacinto were in place due to the wildfire. Nearly 900 homes are in the evacuation zone.

Schools in one public school district were closed. At the same time all afternoon activities were cancelled due to the wildfire.
The National Weather Service upgraded a fire weather watch in counties west of Houston to a red flag warning. It means that the conditions are favorable for wildfires.
