The View star slammed as she worries holiday to Italy in jeopardy over Ukraine invasion

American television personality Joy Behar has been called out online, after making some seriously misguided comments regarding the pending refugee crisis in Europe.

The View presenter has been branded 'entitled', 'ignorant' and 'clueless' by critics on social media, for moaning about cancelled holiday plans due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking on The View, Joy, 79, changed the discussion to her desire to 'make it' to Italy after four years of planning - just seconds after Sunny Hostin, 53, estimated "50,000 Ukranians will be dead or wounded" thanks to Vladimir Putin's plans.

On Thursday, the President of Russia unleashed one of Europe’s largest military offensives since the second world war - with many fearing another global war is imminent.

Shortly after explosions were heard across the country, in cities like Odesa and Kyiv, a Ukrainian presidential adviser said more than 40 soldiers have already died and dozens more have been wounded.

Discussing the horrifying developments in Europe with her fellow panelists, The View presenter Sunny explained some facts about the situation during Thursday's edition of the talk show.

"Estimates are 50,000 Ukranians will be dead or wounded and this is going to start a refugee crisis in Europe," she told her co-hosts and viewers

"We're talking about 5million people that are going to be displaced. It's heartbreaking to hear what is going to happen."

In what has been dubbed a 'tone-deaf' move, comedian Joy then moved the conversation to discuss how the crisis impacts her - in particularly, her travel plans to Italy, a country located roughly 1500 miles away from where Russian forces are currently bombing.

"I'm scared of what's going to happen in western Europe, too. You plan a trip, you want to go there, I've wanted to go to Italy for four years and I haven't been able to make it because of the pandemic and now this," she declared on the American TV show.

"It's like, what's gonna happen there?"

Social media quickly picked up on Joy's seemingly 'insensitive' reaction to the news.

Broadcaster Liz Wheeler posted the video to Twitter, captioning the clip: "I literally can’t believe Joy Behar said this."

Another fumed: "Can you even imagine being so privileged, so removed from reality, so far up your own colon that you’d respond to a massive humanitarian crisis by complaining about your hypothetical vacation being disrupted? Seriously, what the hell @JoyVBehar?"

"Did Putin even stop to think how his invasion would affect Joy Behar’s trip to Italy?" Karol Markowicz quipped on Twitter, as another angry viewer declared: "All she cares about is herself."

One Twitter user interpreted how they heard her comments, writing: "Joy Behar, 'F**k these Ukraines! I wanted to go vacation in Italy!' I’m paraphrasing."

Another sarcastically added: "Sometimes I think my life is hard but then I think of poor Joy Behar who hasn't been able to vacation in Italy for 4 (!) years."

The Mirror has approached representatives for Joy Behar for comment.
