Following a recent meeting between President Donald Trump’s national security adviser and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the United States has indicated its support for new leadership in Ukraine. The national security adviser, Mike Waltz, emphasized the importance of having a leader who can effectively engage with the US and work towards resolving the conflict with Russia.
Waltz expressed concerns about President Zelensky's motivations and called for a clear commitment to ending the ongoing war in the country. He stressed the need for both public and private assurances from the Ukrainian leader that he is prepared to pursue peace.
During the discussions, Waltz also provided insights into potential concessions that could be part of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. He highlighted the necessity of territorial concessions and security guarantees from both sides to facilitate a resolution to the conflict.

Specifically, Waltz mentioned the possibility of territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees, including European-led initiatives involving countries like the UK and France. He indicated that US security guarantees would also be subject to negotiation as part of the peace process.
The US is actively working to advance negotiations aimed at bringing an end to the war in Ukraine. Waltz emphasized the importance of all parties coming to the table and engaging in constructive dialogue to achieve a lasting resolution.
