President Joe Biden confirmed that the United States is taking action in response to a missile attack launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebel group in the Red Sea. The US Navy intercepted Houthi missiles aimed at three American warships navigating through the region.

The missile barrage targeted two guided-missile destroyers and a littoral combat ship as they traveled north through the Bab el-Mandeb strait. President Biden, speaking to reporters after attending church in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, stated that the US is actively addressing the situation.

Amidst escalating tensions, President Biden also emphasized the importance of a ceasefire when questioned about the possibility of Israeli forces entering Lebanon. The Houthis, along with other Iranian proxy groups like Hezbollah and Hamas, have been involved in clashes that have intensified following recent events in the region.

Notably, the Houthis have expressed solidarity with the Palestinians, citing their attacks on vessels in strategic shipping lanes as a form of support. The recent killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has further heightened concerns about a potential broader conflict involving Iran and various militant groups in the Middle East.
