Referring to concerns raised by the Algerian envoy about a potential deliberate policy of starvation by Israel, the US ambassador underscored that such actions would be unacceptable under international and US law.
The Biden administration has also communicated to Israel that US military aid could be at risk if improvements to the humanitarian situation in Gaza are not made within the next 30 days.
Israel is collaborating with the World Food Programme to enhance humanitarian infrastructure in Gaza, with plans for UN convoys to utilize a new route into southern Gaza. The urgent call for increased food supplies into Gaza is highlighted, along with the need for a humanitarian pause to facilitate vaccinations and aid distribution.
Recent warnings from the World Food Programme indicated that no food had entered northern Gaza since the beginning of October, placing approximately 1 million people at risk of starvation.
