The US military has announced the deployment of additional troops to the Middle East in response to heightened tensions between Israel and Lebanon. Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder confirmed on Monday that a 'small number of US military personnel' will be sent forward to augment the forces already stationed in the region.

Ryder emphasized that the decision to deploy additional troops was made 'out of an abundance of caution' due to the increased tensions in the Middle East. However, he refrained from providing specific details for operational security reasons.

Deployment made out of caution, no specific details disclosed for security reasons.

While Ryder did not disclose the exact number of troops deployed, their specific location, or branch of service, he did mention that the US already maintains a significant military presence in the region. This includes the positioning of assets such as destroyers, the Lincoln carrier strike group, and fighter aircraft in the eastern Mediterranean and Red Sea.

The deployment of additional troops comes as part of the US military's efforts to bolster its existing forces in response to the escalating situation in the Middle East. The move aims to ensure readiness and preparedness in the region amidst growing tensions between Israel and Lebanon.
