The US military has resumed airdrops of aid into Gaza after a temporary suspension due to Israeli operations in the northern area. A US cargo plane recently dropped over 10 metric tons of meals, providing crucial humanitarian assistance in Northern Gaza, according to a statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM).
These airdrops are part of a larger effort, with the US having already delivered more than 1,050 metric tons of humanitarian aid to the region. CENTCOM has confirmed that additional aerial deliveries are being planned to continue supporting those in need.
Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, deputy commander of US Central Command, explained that the suspension of airdrops was a result of ongoing kinetic operations in the north. Cooper emphasized that the US views airdrops and the US-built pier off Gaza as temporary solutions to address the urgent humanitarian situation.
Following the repair of the US-built pier, maritime aid deliveries to Gaza have also resumed. The pier had sustained damage during heavy seas, causing a temporary pause in operations that lasted nearly two weeks.
