The U.S. military has assisted in transporting over a million pounds of humanitarian supplies to Gaza through an over-the-shore pier. However, the process of moving aid from the pier to the people is complicated, with reports of trucks being looted en route to storage facilities. This has led to disruptions in aid distribution, prompting the UN to temporarily suspend food delivery in Rafah due to security concerns.
Although aid delivery is ongoing, there have been delays and obstacles hindering the flow of supplies. Despite these challenges, there is cooperation between the U.S., the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the UN, and other humanitarian organizations to ensure that aid reaches those in need.
So far, 1.2 million pounds of aid have been transported from the pier to a beach transfer point, with two-thirds of the supplies distributed further into Gaza by the UN. Approximately a thousand U.S. soldiers and sailors are involved in the aid operation.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military is continuing its operations in Rafah, expanding its presence between Israel's southwestern border and the Mediterranean coast. The situation remains dynamic as efforts to deliver aid and maintain security in the region continue.
