Republicans have flipped a Democratic seat in the US House of Representatives to move within six seats of securing control of the chamber.
Former Happy Valley mayor Lori Chavez-DeRemer won Oregon's 5th District House seat, defeating progressive Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner.
It comes after Democrats won enough Senate seats to maintain control of that chamber over the weekend.
House overall
There are still multiple House seats yet to be called by AP.
Five of those are in California, and Republican candidates are currently ahead in three of those.
Of the seats still to be called, analysts say results in Arizona's 1st and 6th districts and California's 13th, 22nd and 41st districts are among the least clear.
AP predicts it could take at least a few more days before the outcomes of enough House races are known to determine party control of the 435-seat chamber.

Senate overall
Incumbent US senator Catherine Cortez Masto's re-election in Nevada over the weekend secured the Democrats' 50th seat and majority control of the Senate, given Vice-President Kamala Harris's tiebreaker vote.
Senator Cortez Masto defeated Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, a former state attorney-general who was endorsed by former president Donald Trump.
There are still some Senate results that remain uncalled — Georgia will go to a runoff and Alaska's two remaining candidates are both Republicans — but Senator Cortez Masto securing the Democrats' 50th seat means we don't need to wait for those to be resolved to know the overall Senate result.
Races for governor still undecided in two states
According to CNN, three states have flipped so far in governor races — Nevada has elected a Republican governor and Democrats have been elected in Maryland and Massachusetts.
Votes are still being counted in Alaska, where incumbent Republican Mike Dunleavy is currently leading, and Arizona, where the margin between Democrat Katie Hobbs and Republican Kari Lake is a lot narrower.
