Incumbent US senator Catherine Cortez Masto has been re-elected in Nevada, securing the Democrats their 50th seat and maintaining their majority control of the Senate.
She defeated Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, a former state attorney-general who was endorsed by former president Donald Trump.
It is still unclear which party will control the House of Representatives because counting is continuing in California and a handful of other states.
Senate overall
Democrats win: Nevada
Senator Cortez Masto's win means the Democrats maintain their control of the Senate given Vice-President Kamala Harris's tiebreaker vote.
Senator Cortez Masto, Nevada's former attorney-general, was first elected to the Senate in 2016 — the first Latina and first woman from Nevada to do so.
She focused her 2022 campaign on the increasing threat to abortion access nationwide and worked to connect with the state's Spanish-speaking residents and hourly-wage earners.
Senate undecided: Georgia
Georgia's Senate seat will go to a runoff next month after Democrat Rafael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker couldn't be divided.
Senate undecided: Alaska
This seat is also yet to be called but doesn't matter quite as much to the overall result because it will come down to two Republican candidates.
House overall
There are still multiple House seats yet to be called by AP.
Five of those are in California, and Republican candidates are currently ahead in three of those.
Too close to call:
Of the seats still to be called, analysts say results in Arizona's districts 1 and 6 and California's districts 13, 22 and 41 are among the least clear.
AP predicts it could take at least a few more days before the outcome of enough House races are known to determine party control of the 435-seat chamber.
