US Intelligence Warns Of Potential Attacks On Trump Campaign

Trump Organization trial in New York State Supreme Court in New York

US intelligence officials recently briefed Donald Trump’s campaign about new indications that Iran was planning to escalate attacks on the former president and those around him, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

There is currently no indication that the intelligence is related to the apparent second assassination attempt on Trump that occurred on Sunday. The briefing provided in recent days focused on potential physical and cybersecurity attacks, contributing to the heightened security threat against Trump.

Earlier reports had revealed that authorities had received intelligence regarding a plot by Iran to assassinate Trump in the weeks leading up to the attempted assassination at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July. However, there is no evidence linking Thomas Matthew Crooks, the individual who was shot and killed during the attempted attack, to the said plot.

Separately, the US government has determined that the Iranian government is responsible for a hack-and-leak operation aimed at Trump’s campaign. Additionally, there were attempts to target the Biden-Harris campaign through similar cyber activities.
