US envoy Amos Hochstein expressed optimism about the possibility of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon, stating that it is 'within our grasp.' However, he emphasized that the final decision rests with the involved parties.
Hochstein made these remarks during a press briefing in Beirut following a meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, who serves as the intermediary with Hezbollah in the negotiations.
Describing the discussions as 'constructive' and 'very good,' the US envoy noted that progress had been made in narrowing the gaps between the parties involved in the conflict.
'We have a real opportunity to bring the conflict to an end,' Hochstein stated, highlighting the current window of opportunity for reaching a resolution.
During the briefing, Hochstein declined to take questions from reporters, explaining that he preferred not to negotiate the details of the ceasefire deal in a public forum.
