On Wednesday, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar announced their full commitment to implementing a comprehensive ceasefire-for-hostages deal in Gaza. The joint statement released by the three countries outlined the plan, which is set to commence on January 19 and will unfold in three distinct phases.
The initial phase, spanning 42 days, encompasses a series of crucial actions. These include establishing a ceasefire, the withdrawal and redeployment of Israeli forces from densely populated areas, the release of hostages, exchange of prisoners and detainees, repatriation of deceased individuals' remains, and the return of internally displaced persons to their homes in Gaza.

Moreover, the first stage involves facilitating the transportation of patients and wounded individuals for medical treatment, as well as ramping up the safe and efficient distribution of humanitarian aid across the Gaza Strip. Efforts to rehabilitate hospitals, health centers, bakeries, and civil defense facilities are also part of this phase. Additionally, provisions will be made for shelter supplies to aid displaced persons who lost their homes during the conflict.
The mediators from the US, Egypt, and Qatar will collaborate closely to ensure the successful implementation of all three stages of the agreement by both parties involved. Their collective efforts aim to oversee the execution of the ceasefire-for-hostages deal in its entirety, fostering stability and humanitarian relief in the region.
