US-based soccer fans: what team are you rooting for at this year’s Copa América?

Copa América 2024 begins on 20 June and this year the soccer tournament – featuring men’s national teams from South America, North and Central America and the Caribbean – is being hosted in the US.

The host team in any sport typically enjoys a home field advantage with thousands of extra fans. However, in games hosted in the US against Mexico and South and Central American teams, the US men’s national team has consistently struggled to achieve a pro-US crowd.

More widely, the USMNT has failed to attract a large, passionate fanbase in Latino communities, who represent nearly 20% of the US population. Some fans chalk it up to deep cultural roots and others to the level of play.

We’d love to hear from soccer fans who live in the US about the reasons why they will or won’t support the USMNT in the Copa.
