US-Based Operant AI Arrives in India—What Problem Is It Trying to Solve?

Operant AI, a Silicon Valley-based cybersecurity firm, has arrived on Indian shores to strengthen the security of AI-driven applications and cloud environments. The company is known for its 3D runtime defense platform that offers real-time protection against emerging threats such as prompt injection, rogue agents, data poisoning, and data exfiltration.

While Indian companies are adopting AI, the surge for cybersecurity concerns has also grown in recent times. A Deloitte study revealed that 92% of Indian executives consider cybersecurity threats a major challenge, while 91% are concerned about privacy risks linked to AI systems.

How Operant AI is Addressing AI Security Challenges?

According to the company, traditional security tools like firewalls and static code scanning have proven inadequate against AI-powered threats. Operant AI’s platform is designed to detect and block attacks in real-time, ensuring that AI applications remain secure without hindering innovation.

Furthermore, the company’s in-line auto-redaction capabilities help businesses comply with data privacy regulations by preventing sensitive data from leaving an organization’s environment.

So much of today’s AI is deployed on Kubernetes, and it’s really important to have a security plan in place to protect these applications and the data they’re using. Operant’s in-line auto-redaction enables teams to develop AI faster with Kubernetes-native privacy controls.

Operant AI’s Leadership and Expansion Plans

Operant AI was co-founded in 2021 by Vrajesh Bhavsar, Dr. Priyanka Tembey, and Ashley Roof. Bhavsar. Vrajesh Bhavsar, the CEO of the company, comes from a background in security engineering at Apple and AI security at ARM. Dr. Priyanka Tembey, the CTO of the company, was previously a chief architect at VMware. The third co-founder of the company, Ashley Roof, brings experience from Google’s sales and marketing teams in India.

So far, the company has raised $13.5 million in funding from venture capital firms Felicis and Sinewave. Its entry into India follows its recent recognition in Gartner’s Market Guide for AI Trust, Risk, and Security Management (AI TRiSM).

Operant AI’s leadership team will be meeting with industry stakeholders in Bengaluru, Pune, and Ahmedabad as they establish their presence in the Indian market.
