An active-duty US Army Green Beret was identified as the individual responsible for the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the soldier, Matthew Livelsberger, utilized artificial intelligence to plan the blast.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill revealed during a news conference that Livelsberger had employed Chat GPT to gather information on how to carry out his plot. The specific details of what Chat GPT provided in response to the suspect's searches regarding explosives and firearms were not disclosed by officials.
Authorities disclosed that Livelsberger used a bomb in the explosion and a six-page manifesto was discovered on his cell phone. The content of the manifesto was not elaborated on, with Sheriff McMahill emphasizing that further analysis and verification by investigative agencies such as the FBI and ATF were ongoing.
The newly uncovered document adds to the two previously released letters in which the suspect expressed 'political grievances,' referenced armed conflicts, and highlighted domestic issues in the days leading up to the incident. Livelsberger, aged 37 and hailing from Colorado, was reportedly on leave from his base in Germany at the time of the explosion.
Tragically, Livelsberger took his own life shortly before the truck detonated, resulting in injuries to seven other individuals. The investigation into the incident continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the shocking incident in Las Vegas.
