Spanish actress Úrsula Corberó, known for her role in the popular series 'Money Heist,' is set to join the cast of the upcoming reimagining of 'The Day of the Jackal.' The series, scheduled for release later this year, will feature Eddie Redmayne as the elusive assassin known as The Jackal and Lashana Lynch as the determined MI6 agent Bianca, who embarks on a global pursuit to apprehend him.
Corberó will portray the character Nuria, a woman who is connected to The Jackal in his personal life but remains unaware of his true identity. The ensemble cast also includes Charles Dance as Timothy Winthrop, Richard Dormer as Norman, and Chukwudi Iwuji as Osita Halcrow. Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O'Neill, and Sule Rimi are among the other talented actors rounding out the cast.
The series is based on Frederick Forsyth's novel, which was previously adapted into a film in 1973. The 10-part series is being produced by Carnival Films, the renowned production company behind 'Downton Abbey,' under the direction of Brian Kirk. Ronan Bennett, the creator of 'Top Boy,' has written and adapted the script for the series.
The collaboration between Sky Studios and Peacock has resulted in the commissioning of this highly anticipated show, which will be available on Peacock in the U.S. and on Sky in various European countries including the U.K., Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. International sales for the series are being handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
Executive producers for the series include Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant, Sam Hoyle, and the lead actors Redmayne and Lynch. Sue Naegle and Marianne Buckland are also part of the executive production team, with Christopher Hall as producer and Emily Shapland as co-producer. Frederick Forsyth serves as a consulting producer on the project.
