Uri Geller 'intervened to help Scotland beat Norway' says Tartan Army fan who reached out for help

A Tartan Army foot soldier believes illusionist Uri Geller intervened to help Scotland beat Norway in our dramatic 2-1 Euro win in Oslo.

With just five minutes left, Steve Clarke’s men were trailing 1-0 and looked beaten. It was then that Ian Kelly, known as Big Toastie, messaged his hero Geller for help.

Moments later, thanks to Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean goals, Scotland were ahead. Big Toastie, who takes a Scotland jersey with Uri Geller’s name on it to matches, said: “During the game I had been holding the jersey up and decided to text and ask Uri for help in making Scotland win the match.

“The sky opened up it was just godlike when he sent his message and we scored. No one could believe it when I showed them the messages from Uri afterwards.”

Toastie, from Renfrew, showed us his text which read: “Get us win.”

Geller responded: “You must equalise. It’s an away match but I am sending energy. Come on Scotland. Equalise.” He then added: “!!!!!!” “Yesssssssss” following the first goal and another “Yesssssss” after the winner.

Geller told him to put on his top and added “Scotland number ONE!” “Happy For All of You!”

The spoon-bending legend told the Record he then sent the Tartan Army positive messages before Scotland’s home win against Georgia on Tuesday.

Geller added: “I helped Scotland to win both matches. There is a group of Scotland fans who take a Scottish shirt with my name on and No11, my mystical number, to every match.

“I believe in the power of my vibe and positive intention and when Scotland plays I try to send my energy to the team so they will score and win.

“In both matches I was right because the person who was sat there and watched the match, and Scotland were one down, he texted me to ask if I would help them and I said, ‘Don’t worry they will equalise,’ – and I did and they won.

“I truly believe all of us are connected to each other with an invisible spiritual thread through which we can send powers, energies, and positive intentions. That is basically what I was doing.” Israeli-born Geller said that his intervention was his way of making it up to the Tartan Army after he helped his adopted England beat Scotland in the European Championships at Wembley in 1996.

Then, the ball moved just before Gary McAllister struck his penalty, leading to England goalkeeper David Seaman making a crucial save.

Geller famously said he used mind power to move the ball to help England win. Others blamed the swirling wind.

He told the Record: “Absolutely this is me making up for it. Gary McAllister admitted the ball moved away.

“I was hovering, as you know, in a helicopter above Wembley to help the England team.

“And when I heard that Gary McAllister had a penalty I literally screamed ‘1,2,3 move’ when he was running towards the ball and the ball moved away.

“Since then hundreds of thousands of Scottish people have been in touch with me and basically I’m giving back now what I took away from them on that dreadful day that was Euro 96.

“I received hundreds of hate letters from Scotland so the first step I decided to do was to make peace with the Scottish people.”

Geller, who owns Lamb Island in the Firth of Forth, said he keeps Scottish souvenirs close to his heart.

He added: “I have the stone from Lamb Island which was recently retrieved by swimmers and a Scotland top in my museum.”
