Urgent warning to parents over 'choking hazard' bath toy

Parents have been issued with an urgent safety warning over a children's bath toy, which has been recalled over choking fears.

The toy from Chinese online discount store AliExpress, which is hugely popular with British shoppers due to its low prices, is one of a number of products from the site to have been recalled this week by the Office for Product Safety and Standards.

Those who have purchased any of the items on the list are being advised to stop using them immediately and to contact the supplier for "redress", Liverpool Echo reports.

One such item is the "DIY slide indoor waterfall with assembling tracks".

The product has a "medium level" risk of choking, with Government officials saying this is because "it consists of small objects which fit into a small parts cylinder"

The warning continues: "A child playing with this toy can place a small part into their mouths and swallow which can lead to the blocking of the child’s airway.

"The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011."

The warning features on the Office for Product Safety & Standards' Product Safety Report (Office for Product Safety & Standards)

The toy has now been removed from AliExpress' UK site.

The item's AliExpress number is 005001606460220.

Other removed items include a handheld clothes steamer and a hair dryer, as well as some lamp accessories.
