An urgent warning has been issued over mini-heaters sold in Ireland amid a potential risk of “electric shock, burns or fire”.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued the warning on Thursday, April 13 for three plug-in mini heaters sold on the eBay platform.
According to the regulatory body, the first product in question, the Plug In Wall Heater 500W Mini Electric Space, has a heating element that can slip down resulting in electric shock, burns or fire.

Furthermore, the Plug-In Wall Heater Portable Mini Electric Fan 900W Space Warmer has a circuit board which was poorly designed and can pose the risk of electric shock and fire.
There was also a third heater sold on the eBay platform. The 500W Plug-In Wall Heater Portable Mini Electric Fan Space Warmer. There are no images available for this product. The risk from this product is fire.
The brands, models, batch numbers and barcodes are unknown.
Issuing advice on what to do if you have bought one of these products the CCPC said: “Given the online availability of these products, they may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland.
“If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately. You may wish to contact the eBay seller to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on eBay.”
