A search has been launched for a missing sailor who lost contact more than a week ago.

The skipper of the yacht, called The Minke, left Plymouth on June 18 with the intention of arriving in Baltimore, Ireland, on June 22. However the sailor has made no contact with anyone since he left.

As of today, Thursday, June 29, The Minke is a week overdue and the Coastguard, police and RNLI are taking part in the search. The Minke is a 25ft fibreglass folkboat with a white hull and white sails.

A spokesperson for Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Have you seen the below described yacht? “The Minke” left Plymouth on 18 June and was expected to arrive in Baltimore, Ireland, on 22 June.
