Batches of a popular Tesco chicken product have been urgently recalled due to Salmonella fears, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed.
The FSAI issued a release yesterday confirming the recall of two batches of Tesco Southern Fried Chicken Goujons due to the possible presence of Salmonella.
The frozen goujons that are implicated come in packs sized 360g, with best before date 31/5/2024 and the batch codes are 23122 and 23123. The country of origin is Poland.

The FSAI has asked retailers to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices for customers at point-of-sale.
Consumers, meanwhile, are advised to avoid eating the implicated batches but the FSAI assures those who have already eaten the product that cooking it should remove the risk.
Tesco stores will display recall notices at point-of-sale.
Salmonella typically causes symptoms in infected people after between 12 and 36 hours but this can range from between six and 72 hours.
The most common symptom of Salmonella is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms associated with Salmonella include fever, headache and abdominal cramps. It typically lasts for between four and seven days.
The diarrhoea can sometimes be severe enough to require admission to hospital for treatment and elderly people, infants and immunocompromised individuals are more likely to suffer severe illness.
