The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a food alert over a batch of salad dips being recalled by Osem UK due to "possible Salmonella contamination".
Osem have voluntarily recalled a batch of 'Yarden Tahina, Salad of Sesame Paste with Garlic and Parsley'. Products affected have the batch code 2306196504 and an expiration date of January 1, 2023.
Customers who have bought this product are being asked to dispose of it immediately and can receive a full refund from Osem.
The FSA alert states the reason for recall as: "The possible presence of Salmonella in the product listed above."
It adds: "If you bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, dispose of the content immediately and contact Osem UK Consumer Support on 01268410707 or email: Customersupport@osem.co.uk for a full refund."
Osem writes: "Osem UK Ltd. is voluntarily recalling all pots of Yarden Tahina, Salad of Sesame Paste with Garlic and Parsley, 250g with the batch code 2306196504 and expiry date 01.01.2023 due to a possible Salmonella contamination.
"Only this batch is affected by the recall and we would like to assure you that no other Osem products are affected."
The food manufacturer also said: "Osem UK Ltd. takes the safety and quality of its products very seriously and would like to apologise for this inconvenience."
The FSA has reminded shoppers of possible Salmonella symptoms, which can include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
