Urgent Google Chrome warning as users urged to make vital update to browser

Google Chrome users are being urged to make a crucial update now to avoid possible cyber attacks.

The browser helps tech users browse the web, send emails and watch videos. But Google has issued a stark warning to those with older versions of the software on computers after discovering a malicious bug with a serious zero-day rating.

The term zero-day basically means that the developer has only just learned of the flaw, but is already known and being actively used by cyber crooks. By targeting the software's vulnerability, hackers could carry out common attacks like stealing important personal information.

Therefore, those who do not update Chrome could be at risk of infection as Google has developed an urgent fix in the latest version, reports the Mirror.

Once installed, this update will block online scammers from using the flaw, thus protecting devices from further attacks.

Confirming the release, Google said: "The Stable and extended stable channel has been updated to 112.0.5615.121 for Windows Mac and Linux which will roll out over the coming days/weeks.

"This update includes 2 security fixes. Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2023-2033 exists in the wild."

It's now vitally important that all users check their Windows laptops and Apple MacBooks to make sure things are upgraded to the very latest version which is called 112.0.5615.121.

You can check your current version of Chrome by simply launching the browser, then clicking Chrome from the menu bar and tapping About Chrome - here you'll see what is installed and if any upgrades are available.

If it's showing something older than 112.0.5615.121 then you should update things as soon as possible.
