Update: Missing teenage girl, 15, from Carlow found safe and well as search for her sister continues

The search continues for a teenage girl who remains missing after her older sister was found 'safe and well'.

Two sisters, Helen and Melissa McDonnell, aged 15 years and 14 years, had been reported missing from their home on Killeshin Road, Carlow, since Sunday morning.

Helen McDonnell, the older of the pair, has been located but gardai are continuing to search for Melissa as they are concerned for her safety.

Melissa is 14 years of age and is of slim build and 5ft '1 in height. She has brown hair and green eyes. It is unknown what Melissa was wearing when she left home.

On Wednesday evening, a garda spokesperson said: "Helen McDonnell, 15 years, who had been missing from Killeshin Road, Carlow since Sunday, 1st May, 2022 has been located safe and well.

"Gardaí are continuing to seek the public's assistance in tracing Melissa McDonnell, 14 years, who remains missing from Killeshin Road, Carlow since early Sunday morning, 1st May, 2022.

"Anyone with information on Melissa's whereabouts is asked to contact Carlow Garda Station on (059) 9174300, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda station."
