Urgent advice issued as lurgy spreads across Merseyside

A lurgy has hit Merseyside with people appearing to suffer the same symptoms as those with coronavirus.

People have been sharing their experiences with a reported lurgy that has been doing the rounds across the region. ECHO readers have told of their unpleasant time with the bug that appears to show similar symptoms to coronavirus.

One person said: "I've been really struggling with it, loads of people I work with have come down with it as well. Thankfully not covid though."

Another person thought it might be linked to the number of people who travelled down south to enjoy Glastonbury. They commented: "It's Glasto flu."

Since the apparent spread of the virus, the local NHS CCGs have issued guidance on how to limit transmission. They have said that people should continue to contact the NHS 111 online service if they need any advice on symptoms or to talk to their local community pharmacist.

People can also prevent the spread of illnesses by washing hands often with warm water and soap, using tissues to trap germs when they cough or sneeze, and bin used tissues as quickly as possible.
