Urban Village Fete celebrate 10 years with Gilles Peterson headlining

The Urban Village Fete is a real fixture for Londoners in its location on the Greenwich Peninsula, but even loyalists will be shocked to learn that is has now been running for a decade.

It is London’s largest free festival and it still feels very new. But actually it is very well established and one of London’s summer highlights every year.

But since it’s celebrating 10 years, in 2025 the Fete has a particularly brilliant line-up this year.

This includes South London community-come-club-night Touching Bass and renowned international DJ Gilles Peterson returning to headline; he was the first ever headliner.

He says, “I played at the first ever Urban Village Fete back in 2015 and it has been incredible to watch the event grow and come together over the past 10 years. It is a neighbourhood that gives back to the community and that’s a special thing indeed. You don’t come across many other events that represent a true democratisation of art – something we need now more than ever. Here’s to 10 more years!”

The Fete is all about culture, creativity and community. You’ll also find workshops - such as ceramics with Pottery Studio LDN - family activities - check out the Incredibly Clever Canine Circus for some dog action - as well as conversations about issues affecting Londoners with BBC Radio London’s Robert Elms.

And as part of the Fete’s 10-year celebration, and in connection with War Child’s Secret 7” exhibition at NOW Gallery, Greenwich Peninsula will be raising funds for War Child as a charity partner.

The day will end with Sunset Sessions, where you can enjoy some food, have some drinks and chill out to LOOSE.FM DJ sets. What’s not to love?

Urban Village Fete takes place on Sunday 18 May https://www.greenwichpeninsula.co.uk/whats-on/urban-village-fete
