The Uttar Pradesh non-conventional energy development agency (UPNEDA) on Monday launched its ‘unified rooftop solar transaction portal’ that would enable people to apply for rooftop installations and receive subsidy directly in their bank account in a transparent manner.

Dedicating the portal to the public at a function here, minister of renewable energy, Brajesh Pathak, said “Through the portal anyone could apply online for setting up a rooftop solar plant as well the subsidy that was available in such cases.”

He said the state government had fixed a minimum target of producing 10,700 MW during the years to come.

“Of this 4300 MW has been targeted from rooftop installations,” the minister said.

He said anyone who sets up a rooftop solar plant was entitled to a subsidy of ₹15,000 per KW to the maximum limit of ₹30,000.

“The future belongs to renewable energy as it is environment-friendly and will never peter out like other conventional sources,” Pathak said.

Speaking on the occasion, principal secretary, renewable energy, Alok Kumar said the portal would promote the ease of doing business and e-transactions in the state.

He said developed nations were giving a lot of weightage to promotion of rooftop solar power because the transmission and distribution losses were nil in the power produced from such installations.

Kumar said the state was all set to witness a revolution in the field of renewable energy.

Director, UPNEDA, Arvind Kumar Singh, said the list of selected beneficiaries would be available on the portal for anyone to see.

“The selected candidates will be free to get the rooftop installation done by any company within 210 days of selection,” he added.
