Live updates as killer Rueben Murphy to be sentenced for murder

We are at Liverpool Crown Court this lunchtime as killer, Rueben Murphy, is sentenced for the murder of Patrick Boyle.

Rueben Murphy was convicted of shooting 26-year-old Patrick Boyle in Newway, Huyton, just after 6pm on Thursday, July 1 last year. His co-accused Ben Doyle, 24, was also convicted of murder for helping Murphy plan the shooting.

A third man, 20-year-old Thomas Walker, was cleared of murder but admitted possessing ammunition without a certificate after his DNA was found on bullet casings. All three are will be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court today.

Haydn Griffiths' sister sends touching message after body found at Pier Head

The sister of a missing swimmer has shared a touching message after a body was found in his search.

Haydn Griffiths went missing during a swim with a friend in New Brighton at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, July 19. Merseyside Police confirmed that a body was found at the Pier Head on Sunday, July 24.

Haydn's sister, Megan Griffiths, posted a photograph of the pair together, with the caption "I love you brother." She thanked people who have helped the family with their search and shared a tribute to her brother.

Mum 'scared to go to sleep' after murder investigation launched

A murder investigation was launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat.

Merseyside Police confirmed that officers found a 57-year-old's body at a flat on Bath Street in Southport on Sunday, July 24. A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A mum-of-one, Beth Connolly, was staying in a B&B close to the flat with her family. She said: "They all turned up about 8pm and they were trying to bang the door down for ages. It was scary."
