The New Orleans Saints traded away C.J. Gardner-Johnson on Tuesday in exchange for future draft selections from the Philadelphia Eagles, which follows their decision to trade away a lot of future capital to the Eagles prior to the 2022 NFL draft. Those picks were used to draft Chris Olave and Trevor Penning, which should help get the offense back on track, but this move certainly doesn’t come close to replenishing the value given away in that trade. Still, New Orleans did recoup some value in moving Gardner-Johnson.
The Saints are certainly not afraid to move draft capital, and also trade for it, so expect this list to change a lot in the future. For now, though, this is what the next three years of Saints draft picks looks like:
2023
- Round 2
- Round 3
- Round 4
- Round 5
- Round 5 (via Philadelphia)
- Round 7
The Saints’ first rounder was traded to the Eagles during the trade that brought New Orleans two first-round selections in 2022. The sixth-round choice was sent to the Houston Texans during the Bradley Roby trade as a conditional pick, and it looks like it will transfer given Roby’s expanded role following Gardner-Johnson’s departure.
2024
- Round 1
- Round 3
- Round 4
- Round 5
- Round 6
- Round 6 (via Philadelphia)
- Round 7
The Saints also traded their second-round selection in 2024 in that 2022 draft maneuver, but they gained a sixth-round selection in 2024 in this latest trade with Philadelphia. The Eagles own two picks in that round (one via the Tennessee Titans), with New Orleans receiving whichever ends up being ranked lower.
2025
- Round 1
- Round 2
- Round 3
- Round 4
- Round 5
- Round 6
The only move made so far with 2025 picks was the Saints sending their seventh-round selection to the Eagles on Tuesday. But they got back a 2024 sixth rounder, so they’re effectively spending that pick a round higher and a year sooner.
