No. 2 ranked Georgia (8-0, 5-0 SEC) will take on the No. 12 Missouri Tigers (7-1, 3-1 SEC) in an SEC East battle on Saturday in Sanford Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will air on CBS.
The winner of this matchup will have an inside track at playing in Atlanta for the SEC Championship.
Despite losing star tight end Brock Bowers in Week 7, Georgia enters this game the healthiest its been since fall camp.
We saw the return of offensive lineman Xavier Truss, running back Kendall Milton and defensive end Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins in last week’s 43-20 win over Florida.
Right tackle Amarius Mims and running back Roderick Robinson are close to returning to the field.
Here’s our updated Georgia injury report, including recent quotes from head coach Kirby Smart:
OT Amarius Mims
Injury: Ankle
Status: Questionable
Mims underwent TightRope surgery for an ankle injury suffered in Week 3. The junior returned to practice last week in a limited capacity and a return is expected soon.
“He’s gotta be healthy enough to play and be the best available player to play, Smart said. “I mean, he’s working his butt off… But at the end of the day, he’s gotta be confident to go out and play. And he’s much closer to that today (Tuesday) than he was last week.”
LB CJ Allen
Injury: Hamstring
Status: Questionable
The true freshman suffered a hamstring injury against the Gators, but Smart is confident that the “tweak” isn’t severe.
“And then C.J. is day to day,” Smart said. “He felt a tweak in his hamstring, but I think he’s going to be fine.”
RB Roderick Robinson
Injury: Ankle
Status: Questionable
Robinson has missed the last five games due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 3. The true freshman returned to practice during the bye week and is inching closer to a return.
“He looks much better,” Smart said.
DB Dan Jackson
Injury: Knee
Status: Questionable
Jackson is suffering from an infected bursa sack in his knee that occurred during the Vanderbilt game and caused him to miss last week’s matchup with the Gators.
“His knee has a bursa sac in there that’s been bothering him,” Smart said. “It actually got infected… And we’re hopeful to get him back this week.”
OLB Darris Smith
Injury: Personal reasons
Status: Doubtful
Smith has been absent from the team for three weeks due to personal reasons.
“Darris is focusing on academics and working out, conditioning, doing some things, but he’s not necessarily with us,” Smart said.
TE Brock Bowers
Injury: Ankle
Status: Out
Bowers underwent TightRope surgery to repair an ankle injury following the Vanderbilt game. His estimated timetable for return is 4-to-6 weeks, slating a possible return during the week of the Tennessee game (Nov. 18).
RB Branson Robinson
Injury: Knee
Status: Out for season
Robinson will miss the 2023 season due to a torn patella tendon suffered in fall camp.
Missouri is fairly healthy entering the Georgia game
The Tigers are expected to be without linebacker Chad Bailey, who has 17 tackles and a sack this season. Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz considered Bailey to be questionable earlier this week, but he is not expected to play. Overall, the Tigers are very healthy entering the Georgia game.
Everybody who was dinged up came back. I only saw one green jersey in yesterday’s practice.
Missouri had a bye week head of the Nov. 4 game at Georgia.
