After a lot of speculation, the Kansas City Chiefs moved up in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. It just might not have been for the player that everyone expected.
The Chiefs traded Round 1, Pick 29, Round 3, Pick 94 and Round 4, Pick 121 to the New England Patriots in order to secure Round 1, Pick 21, where they’d select Washington CB Trent McDuffie. One of the picks, Round 4, Pick 121, was compensation they had received from the Tyreek Hill trade.
Here’s a look at the team’s remaining draft picks:
- Round 2, 50 overall (via Miami, Tyreek Hill trade)
- Round 2, 62 overall
- Round 3, 103 overall (Compensatory, Ryan Poles)
- Round 4, 135 overall
- Round 7, 233 overall (Mike Hughes trade)
- Round 7, 243 overall (Yasir Durant trade)
- Round 7, 251 overall
- Round 7, 259 overall (Compensatory, Damien Wilson)
The Chiefs still have quite a bit of draft capital left to improve their team on Day 2, including two more picks with the top-100. After missing out on a receiver on Day 1, look for that to be atop the team’s wishlist as they come on the clock at pick No. 50. Who knows, perhaps Brett Veach has another trade up his sleeves.
