Update provided on Ryan Yates after injury worry for Nottingham Forest man against Bournemouth

Head coach Steve Cooper provided an update on midfielder Ryan Yates after Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.

Yates was forced off late in the first half at the Vitality Stadium, having gone down and received treatment on the pitch. He was replaced by new signing Danilo, who came on for his Reds debut after putting pen to paper earlier in the week.

It came after Yates had also been substituted against Leicester City last weekend, having taken a blow to the face in the 2-0 win at the City Ground. Cooper said the academy graduate had not “felt too well” during the match on the south coast.

“He didn’t feel too well again in the game,” said the Welshman. “We probably could have pursued him trying to stay on, but we’ve learnt quickly that you need everybody at it in the Premier League.

“You cannot play with ten-and-a-half players for even a couple of minutes. We had good changes on the bench, with Gustavo (Scarpa), Danilo and Jack (Colback) as well. We just felt that we wanted to make that change.”

Prior to coming off, Yates had seen an effort ruled out against the Cherries. He thought he had given the visitors the lead when he converted after Willy Boly had headed on a Morgan Gibbs-White free-kick. However, a VAR check ruled Boly had been offside.

Forest were then forced to come from behind as Jaidon Anthony went on to open the scoring before the break. But Sam Surridge came off the bench to snatch a crucial equaliser for Cooper’s side.
