Update on injured schoolboy as teen dies in motorbike crash

Police have given an update on a schoolboy who was injured in a fatal motorbike crash.

Cheshire Police rushed to Holcroft Lane at around 9.30pm on Monday, July 18, following reports of a crash. Once at the scene officers found a moped and another motorbike were involved in the crash.

Officers found two teenage boys at the scene, a 17-year-old and 13-year-old. The 17-year-old, Ben Smith from Irlam, died at the scene while the schoolboy was rushed to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service with serious injuries.

Cheshire Police have now confirmed the 13-year-old boy was discharged from hospital.

In a joint tribute issued through Cheshire police, his family said: "Ben Smith - The kind hearted boy who made everyone laugh. He was deeply loved and will be missed by so many people.
