Update emerges on ex-Bolton Wanderers and Celtic boss Neil Lennon's next managerial move

Former Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon will discover later this week if he will return to management after more than a year out of the dugout.

Lennon has been out of football management since leaving Scottish giants Celtic for the second time towards the end of February 2021.

The 50-year-old spent a year-and-a-half in the dugout with the Whites between October 2014 and March 2016 before departing Wanderers by mutual consent.

He has since been in management with Hibernian and most recent with Celtic, taking charge of the Glasgow side in February 2019 for a second spell in charge.

But he departed Parkhead for a second time with Celtic then 18 points behind Rangers in the Scottish top flight.

The Daily Record reports, has since been on a three-man shortlist for Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia, who have been conducting interviews after the sacking of former Manchester United defender Henning Berg.

Omonoia Nicosia spokesman Andreas Dimitriou said: "I can say that the process is at a very advanced stage.

"We have a shortlist of three outstanding coaches. We have done the interviews and a decision is imminent.

"In the next day or two, the new manager will be announced."

Lennon had ruled himself in for the Sunderland job but was beaten to the post by Alex Neil, while he has also been listed as a favourite for the job at League Two side Leyton Orient after the sacking of Kenny Jackett.

But he also reiterated a desire to work abroad and will learn very soon if he'll get that chance.
