Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller labelled his old side's 1-0 defeat against Braga in the Europa League a "positive result".
And he believes the slim deficit can easily be overturned in next week's second leg at Ibrox.
The Portuguese team have the upper hand after Abel Ruiz struck just before half-time.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst made a number of changes but without striker Alfredo Morelos his side carried little threat going forward.
But despite the defeat Miller was upbeat as he told BT Sport: "1-0, despite the performance and how the game went, you probably would have taken that as a positive result before the ball was kicked.
"There was no doubt that was a positive result because they were reeling for long spells, hanging on a little bit.
"But they finished pretty strong towards the end and it was probably their best spell heading up to the final whistle.
"Taking that 1-0 deficit back to Ibrox, it's definitely something that can be overcome."
Fellow pundit and former Ibrox hero Alan Hutton reckoned it was the absence of Morelos that was the difference between the teams.
Rangers' record European goalscorer is out for the remainder of the season as he recovers following thigh surgery.
Hutton said: "They finished the stronger of the two teams but what I liked was when Van Bronckhorst changed the formation in the second half.
"He dropped Lundstram in when defending but when they had the ball he was allowed to go into midfield, pushed Tavernier on and it helped them get a hold of the ball.
"But the missing piece of the puzzle was when they went up to the striker, holding that on and getting bodies round about. That's what let them down this evening.
"He (Morelos) can occupy centre-backs, a whole defence at times, and that allows the likes of Kent and Ramsey to make clever runs off him.
"They just didn't have that.".
