Some would even give the fanciful world of Willy Wonka a run for its money. Heritage toothpaste specialist Marvis offer everything from Matcha Tea to Black Forest, whilst you can find an almond-flavoured toothpaste jelly in Lush - what will they think of next?

Selahatin Of Course I Still Luv You Whitening Toothpaste
Have you ever smelt a fragrance and been instantly reminded of a place, a moment or a person? Well, this is the kind of emotional connection Kristoffer Vural is aiming to create with his luxury oral care brand Selahatin - an eau de parfum for your mouth, if you will.
First of all, lets talk about the gorgeous packaging. Completely monochrome, from the boxes to the metal tubes, it’s perhaps the chicest toothpaste on the market. Even better, the mouthwash comes in clear glass bottles which are reminiscent of expensive perfumes - using it, I felt like Patsy Stone gargling Chanel No.5 in the back of her chauffeur-driven car in the Ab Fab movie.
With wistful names like Escapist, Amorist and Blue Forever, the flavours all have a minty fresh undercurrent which is punctuated with subtle flavours like orange, honey or anise. I tried Of Course I Still Luv You, a blend of verbena, bergamot cardamom and pine, which took me to back to my childhood thanks to its likeness to Parma Violets.
Whilst the range has a high price point, we think it’s totally worth it - especially due to the successful whitening credentials.

Hi by HiSmile Peach Iced Tea Toothpaste 60g
Calling all Kardashian stans! Hi by HiSmile comes Kimmy-K approved - and who doesn’t want pearly whites like the celebrity mogul herself?
The sleek, pastel-coloured tubes will deliver an IG-friendly toothbrushing regime both morning and night, and the formula is infused with the Australian label’s Fluoride+ formula which will prevent cavities, plaque, tooth decay and promote tooth remineralisation.
One for those with a sweet tooth, you can choose from Watermelon, Mango Sorbet, Peach Iced Tea or stick to a classic Smooth Mint. My favourite waas the Peach Iced Tea, which upgraded a classic minty flavour with delicious peachy fruitiness - you’ll want to carry on brushing far past the two minute recommended time.

Marvis Ginger Mint Toothpaste 85ml
You may be familiar with heritage brands when it comes to fashion, but what about for dental care? Well, Italian cult-favourite Marvis was founded in Florence in 1958 as you can tell from the retro-inspired packaging, and has been refreshing mouths on the daily ever since.
With seven core flavours from Jasmin Mint to Amarelli Liquorice, you could have a different start to every day of the week. Better yet, if you try the special blends like Earl Grey and Black Forest, you can essentially have a three course meal all before breakfast (Violet Beauregarde’s chewing gum springs to mind...).
Each formula uses xylitol and sorbitan to cleanse the teeth, gums and breath without irritation - and, if you’re in the market for whitening, the specific formulas come highly regarded. As a fan of ginger, I tried Ginger Mint, which tasted primarily minty with a hint of ginger, but it foamed nicely and left my mouth feeling fresh. Ideal for those who’d like to try a regular toothpaste with a twist.

Officine Universelle Buly Opiat Dentaire Mint Coriander Toothpaste 75g
This brand dates back to 1803, when perfumer Jean-Vincent Bully opened a store on rue Saint-Honoré, Paris, and was more recently updated by duo Victoire de Taillac and Ramdane Touhami to become Officine Universelle Buly in 2014.
Staying true to its history, it now produces deliciously smelling and tasting products across perfume, home fragrance, skincare, body care and, of course, oral .
You can choose from three flavours - Orange Ginger & Clove, Apple from Montauban or Mint Coriander & Cucumber - each of which are crafted using spa water known for its healing properties from French commune Castéra-Verduzan. I opted for the latter, which had a mild, subtle yet enjoyable herbaceous taste - and left my mouth feeling fresh all day long.
With no current teeth-related problems, I can’t comment on the healing properties, but even just the antique-looking packaging and the fresh flavour makes this a luxury toothpaste that’s worth the investment.

Lush Soother Toothpaste Jelly
Ah, the weird and wonderful world of Lush. From deodorant powder to a carrot shaped bubble bar, you never know what to expect from the overwhelmingly bubblegum-boatnically scented store. The label’s dental hygiene offering follows the same MO, with a selection of hard toothpaste tabs or soft jellies that have been infused with the likes of cola, black pepper, aniseed or neroli, to name a few.
I tried Soother, a fluoride-free jelly formula blended with clove and almond that’s ideal for those with sensitive teeth. A sweet scent and flavour, the almond came through with hints of cinnamon, so if you’re partial to sweeter things, this could be the one for you.
Whilst the jelly was less solid than the brand’s well-known shower jelly, making it easy to scoop out of the tub using a toothbrush, I definitely prefer the texture of a traditional toothpaste. But, if you get past the initial peculiar sensation, it transforms into an enjoyable, flavourful lather in no time.

ZING Starter Pack
If you’re in the market for healthier and whiter teeth - and want to shake up your morning routine with a new delicious flavour in the meantime - look no further than ZING, a toothpaste that offers both style and substance in one cheerfully designed, toxin-free package.
First and foremost, founder Jacques Cockell wanted to create a product that was healthier for your mouth, eliminating titanium dioxide, a suspected carcinogen that’s commonly found in supermarket toothpastes, and SLS , a foaming agent that can cause mouth ulcers.
Taking it a step further, he introduced hydroxyapatite to remineralise enamel and reduce sensitivity, papain, an enzyme that will whiten the teeth in just a few weeks, and a menu of three delicious flavours - peach, lemon and apple and kiwi. If, however, you’re a staunch believer that the only flavour needed pre-9AM is mint, the brand offers a version of the classic, as well. The taste across the board is subtle so there’s no overwhelming hit as soon as you wake up but if you live by the motto that the mintier, the better, you may want to follow with mouthwash.
The good news? This starter pack includes all four.
